| < Back | Anthony ManningAnthony Manning began his martial arts training as a teenager in a traditional Korean martial art and has dedicated his life to learning and developing his martial arts knowledge. He obtained the rank of 2nd degree Black Belt and became a state karate sparring and forms champion in the 1990s. During his years in the army and public service security Anthony expanded his martial arts training through an extensive range of conflict management practices from unarmed combat to armed combat, self defence to verbal de-escalation. He has also developed and taught protective behaviour training skills to schools, workplaces and community groups, and highly specialised close personal protection skills to military and police agencies. Anthony opened Phoenix Gym in 1996 and has directed his martial art training into specialist kickboxing. He is an experienced, ‘hands-on’ coach, having had broad competition experience. He won an Australian Title under the guidance of Mick Spinks and has coached many competitors to State and Australian championships level. Anthony has also competed at grappling and has considerable experience in boxing, submission fighting, weapons fighting and teaching “real world, no rules” self defence. Anthony has trained with the best in the world and brought every bit of sweat and knowledge into the gym to inspire and lead others to be the best they can be. Anthony is the Senior Phoenix Coach and leads the coaching team. He has developed the curriculum and coaching methods, and set high standards for the gym. He oversees all aspects of the gym management. Anthony has a Certificate IV in fitness, is a Level One Boxing Coach and is dedicated to the development of every member of the Phoenix Gym and the future of the gym itself. |
